Premiere: Ozwald – Attention Seeker [Forthcoming Resonate Sounds]

Resonate Sounds’ 4th release is a slick 2 tracker from Ozwald

After heavy support on their past releases from Priceless, Sammy Virji and Resonate resident High Class Filter, the London based collective-turned record label are back with fresh music from Ozwald.

After his massive standout release, ‘Raspberry Flutes’, on RKS Dubz, Ozwald’s latest EP consists of 2 melodic yet bass heavy UKG bangers. ‘Burgundy Methods’ is a brass inspired rinseout as the rasping bassline marches up and down bulky drums and bright flashes of organ intersperse. ‘Attention Seeker’ is an energetic 2 stepper based around a very chunky kick and a simple but effective bass riff. These act as a foundation for vibrant stabs, shuffling percussion and a bubbly arpeggiated lead sweet enough to give you tooth ache.

We’re premiering the brilliant title track on our Soundcloud which you can stream down below. You can pre-order Ozwald’s ‘Attention Seeker’ EP, out on Resonate Sounds 2/2/18, here.

Premiere: Zemon – Hungry Riddim [Forthcoming In:Flux Audio]

INFLUX 033 Bosh, Dinner!

Zemon serves up 3 original bangers accompanied by a tasty remix from 10sion

After a couple of recent releases on In:Flux (White Label 005 and their 2017 Selection Box compilation), the label have taken on their first EP from the Berlin based UKG and Bass producer. Whilst our opening line for this post was awful, these food related tracks are sick!

‘Peas and Potatoes’ is a gritty 2step track with the bass line swapping between a chunky warp and more brass inspired sound over stop-start drums and interspersed chord flutters. ‘Simmer Skank’ is a rigid 4×4 dancefloor pounder; think old school bassline with a twist of Zemon’s signature sound. We’re particularly fond of the eerie offbeat stabs on this one. 10sion’s remix of the ‘Peas and Potatoes’ flips the original into dark UK Funky x Bassline style stepper – the drums aren’t quite flowing enough for it to be out and out Funky but the vibe is there for sure and we’re highly rating it.

In:Flux have been kind enough to let us premiere the second track on the release, ‘Hungry Riddim’. Also taking on the form of 2step, ‘Hungry Riddim’ is instant wheel up material – gully metallic basses play call-and-respond with an alien sounding lead, rolling over the shuffling drums in a way that you cannot help skank to. It’s a certified banger.

You can hear the premiere of ‘Hungry Riddim’ below; it’s out on Zemon’s ‘Bosh! Dinner’ EP on 29/1/18 via In:Flux Audio.

Premiere: Spectrum – Resonate [Forthcoming Articulate Records]

resonate-art.jpg

Articulate Records release their first official single as FHD & Hutchison combine as Spectrum

No strangers to the Bass scene, FHD & Hutchison have been collaborating with each other for a while but are finally joining up officially as Spectrum. Their latest release, ‘Resonate’ is due out this Friday and we’ve been lucky enough to be given the Premiere.

Articulate Records have good pedigree with releases from Daze Prism and Doc Zee gaining heavy support, and as they now look to put out singles between their EP releases we expect them to gain even more attention.

‘Spectrum’ is dark and absurdly heavy, with a backbone made of giant kicks, massive low pitched snares and rasping neuro basses. There’s plenty of space for the remaining percussion to be doused in reverb and the contrasting pad works brilliantly, sumptuously floating above the havoc below it. A 4×4 switch on the second drop raises the energy levels at no expense of production standard, with ‘Resonate’ constantly putting us in mind of Noisia.

If both Spectrum and Articulate each have more releases like this lined up, we cant wait to hear them. Listen to our premiere of Spectrum – ‘Resonate’ below. It’s out on 26/1/18.

Premiere: Tigs – Best Not Miss [Forthcoming Raw Tactics]

Tigs - Dont Get Rude EP (Artwork)

UK born, Melbourne based producer Tigs is going in hard on his first release of the year

Tigs is back and is bringing his versatile, eclectic brand of UK Bass music with him on his next EP, ‘Don’t Get Rude’. The 3 track release is coming out on his own label, Raw Tactics, on Jan 26th and it’s not one to be overlooked.

Raw Tactics have given us the massive ‘Best Not Miss’ to us to premiere – it’s a skippy tune with drums that border on UK Funky, punctuated by sinister, staccato strings and riding a chunky, rolling bassline. We fully back the g-funk inspired synth too!

The rest of the EP is just as large – title track ‘Don’t Get Rude’ is a dark yet bouncy 2 step garage affair with grimey, call-and-response style basslines and ‘Voodoo’ is a tribal infused Grime/UKG hybrid; sparse but weighty drums and a metallic bass drive the track which is haunted by eerie bells and drawn out vocals in the background.

Tigs – ‘Don’t Get Rude’ is out on Raw Tactics on January 26th. Listen to our premiere of ‘Best Not Miss’ below:

GHSTGHSTGHST – Buss Da Dance ft MC Serious [Premiere]

The ever illusive GHSTGHSTGHST comes through with some gritty UK Funky

1Forty’s 3rd and final, free, genre-specific, compilation is quite probably our favourite yet. This time exploring the realms of UK Funky and Garage after already visiting Grime and Bass, every tune is a banger and we simply can’t believe it’s free.

We’ve been lucky enough to host the premiere for GHSTGHSTGHST and Serious’ collab, ‘Buss Da Dance’, which is a bass heavy, Funky banger made to do exactly what it says on the tin. Serious’ catchy vocal is sure to have everyone inside chanting along, and GHST’s production is as raw and aggressive as ever.

Also on the release, which is out on December 12th, is J69’s tribal Funky roller ‘Wanna Say‘ and 4×4 Garage warper ‘Gotta Get‘ from newcomer Witchdoctor.

Stream the premiere of GHSTGHSTGHST ft Serious – ‘Buss Da Dance’ below and checkout 1Forty for more free releases here.

NuBass – Meltdown [Premiere]

NuBass Meltdown JPEG

1Forty’s first single is here and it’s huge

What a year Leed’s based event and label 1Forty have had! After a handful of successful events hosting some of the scene’s biggest and best DJs, two free compilation releases (with a third on the way),  a couple of festival appearances as well as collaborating on a brand new Winter carnival and now this – their debut single, from highly rated up and comer NuBass. We can’t wait to see what they have to offer going in to 2018.

The track itself is a 4×4 stomper firmly set on shutting down the dance, and is best described by 1Forty themselves.

NuBass makes his mark on 1Forty with a track that would give a lot of sound systems a run for there money. Meltdown does exactly what is says on the tin with a hazardous bass accompanied by a toxic-like shudder climbing down in pitch which combines to make this track one that should come with a pre-warning

1Forty

You can stream the premiere of NuBass – ‘Meltdown’ below, which is set to be released on November 14th by 1Forty for free.
